AI Hackathon 2024

Our highly anticipated Hackathon took place from August 16 to 18, 2024, bringing together brilliant minds under the theme: AI and Data. The focus of the event was exploring how AI could be leveraged to generate content and data, analyze it effectively, and provide best-in-class recommendations.

Participant Overview

We received 18 completed applications, with 16 teams hailing from Nepal and 2 from Lithuania. However, only 10 teams participated during the event. These teams presented innovative ideas, pushing the boundaries of AI-driven applications in diverse fields.

Industry Judges

We were privileged to have two esteemed judges from the industry:

  1. Russell Warden – CEO of Same Day Auto
  2. Reza Naeim Abadi – Software Developer at AE Live (currently at Critical Mass)

Judging Criteria

Projects were evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • Idea Novelty: Is the idea original and unique?
  • Practical Use Case: How beneficial and relevant is the idea?
  • Target Market Size: How large is the target audience?
  • Global Scalability: Can the idea scale globally?
  • UX Delight: How user-friendly is the product?

Participating Teams and Projects

  1. Neo: A centralized data repository for LLMs aimed at reducing hallucinations.
  2. Last Second Hackathon (Team 1): “Opti” – an AI engine embedded inside vehicles.
  3. Nascent: Generative AI-based data visualization tool.
  4. Turbomind: “Echoguard” – an emergency response system using sound and voice recognition to identify distress and notify authorities.
  5. Last 2nd Hackathon (Team 2): A video translation app capable of translating videos into multiple languages.
  6. Dès Vu: A generative AI-based content creation and collaboration platform.
  7. D Blunt: Generative AI-powered travel planning app.
  8. RG: A financial planning and stock market analysis app.
  9. MBMC: Chatbot for hospital websites to provide tailored information about services and facilities.
  10. Innovision: “RomoTrans” – a translator for Romanized native languages to English.

Winner: D Blunt

After intense competition and a tie-breaker between D Blunt and RG, the D Blunt team emerged victorious with their generative AI-based travel planning app. Their project showcased how AI could redefine travel planning by delivering personalized itineraries and recommendations with ease and efficiency.
